AMVAD
Project description
Additive manufacturing for ventricular assist devices (AMVAD)
The aim of the project is to develop a process that enables the use of additive manufacturing for the production of high-risk medical devices. This is to be developed and demonstrated using the example of a cannula with patient-specific geometry for external cardiac support systems. Additive manufacturing technologies open up the possibility of patient-specific treatment for previously untreated patient groups while at the same time ensuring a high level of safety through a complete approval process.
The entire process chain is being investigated, starting with medical imaging and processing, through computer-aided product design, to product manufacture using additive manufacturing, including process validation and proof of the safety and performance of the individually manufactured product.
ZeSys e.V. focuses on the design and documentation of the development process, the verification of additive manufacturing processes, material testing, functionality and safety in order to enable subsequent approval for individual medical products.
